Trip to Triberg im Schwarzwald

On Saturday, August 2nd, our group, which included students from Spain, Russia, Italy, Japan, Slovakia, Georgia, and Turkey, took a trip to the town of Triberg im Schwarzwald (Black Forest).

Together with numerous Deutsche Bahn passengers , among them some very vocal soccer fans, we made our way to the Black Forest, to the world's biggest cuckoo clock and the tallest waterfalls in Germany. Fortunately, the weather did not forsake us and we were able to enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany and its sights in full sunshine.

First, we visited the cuckoo clock, which stands 6,50 meters tall. Built 34 years ago, it has worked smoothly ever since, the wooden cuckoo emerging from its house every hour and half-hour to tell the time and amuse all of the many tourists who visit it each year.
After we had left the clock, which you can actually enter, and had taken lots of photos, we set out for the waterfalls. That was when the real adventure started: first, we lost two of our fellow travelers. Luckily, their disappearance was promptly noticed, so they could be recovered soon after. The walk to the waterfalls proved to be much more fun, though unfortunately it proceeded less according to the principle "all roads lead to Rome" and more to "the Black Forest is really big and confusing"...
After a long - some might say, too long - march, we were able to recharge while eating a delicious lunch, which consisted, for example, of "Jägerschnitzel" (hunter's cutlet) with fries, "Frikadellen" (large meatballs) with onions and "Flammkuchen" (Tarte Flambee) - not really a typical German dish!

Soon it was time to continue our march in order to reach our main destination: the waterfalls. Here, in the middle of the forest, gushes the fresh Black Forest water, plunging down into the valley over seven individual steps. We spent a wonderful time there, enjoying nature and, of course, taking pictures at every turn!

To conclude our trip, everyone agreed that a slice of the famous Black Forest Cake was a must; all those burnt calories had to be regained, after all! Finally, everyone left for home tired, but content.
